Are you a PhD researcher striving to publish your research in a leading management journal? The ENGAGE.EU Paper Development Workshop, hosted by WU Vienna in collaboration with NHH, is here to guide you through the intricate world of academic publishing.
Taking place in the vibrant city of Vienna during the first week of March (3rd-7th), this one-week intensive course offers those pursuing their PhD the opportunity to refine their draft papers, gain expert insights, and connect with an international network of peers.
Why You Should Join
Publishing isn’t just about following journal guidelines—it’s about mastering the unwritten rules of writing, revising, and resubmitting. This course will make those rules explicit, equipping you with the skills to navigate the publication process confidently. Through hands-on activities, peer reviews, and personalized feedback, you’ll sharpen your manuscript and prepare it for submission.
What to Expect
Each morning, participants will step into the shoes of both author and reviewer, offering and receiving constructive feedback on draft papers. Afternoons are dedicated to interactive classroom discussions, where instructors provide actionable strategies for enhancing your work. The week-long agenda includes sessions on writing compelling introductions, developing robust hypotheses, presenting clear methods and results, and crafting impactful discussions.
Beyond the academic rigor, the course fosters collaboration across ENGAGE.EU partner universities, ensuring a rich exchange of ideas and perspectives. From the opening get-together to the closing dinner, the workshop combines learning with networking in an inspiring atmosphere.
How to Apply
Interested participants must submit a draft paper and a one-page motivation letter by January 17, 2025, to petra.hennrich@wu.ac.at. The draft should cover all key sections of a journal article, from introduction to discussion, and include a two-page extended abstract for peer circulation. Visit the course website for complete application guidelines and to register formally as an exchange student via the “How to Apply” link.
This course isn’t just about earning 6 ECTS; it’s about setting your research up for success. Don’t miss this chance to turn your paper into a publishable gem and build lasting connections with international peers.
