Are you ready to address today’s most pressing societal challenges while developing skills to lead tomorrow’s world? The ENGAGE.EU Student Hackathon invites students from across our 10 partner universities for a transformative hackathon. In this activity organised by the Board of Learners, you will learn how to develop policy design frameworks, enhance critical thinking and environment analysis. The experience will include the development of a policy draft for the EU to put into practice everything learned.

This hackathon is more than just a series of sessions—it’s a chance to network with peers, share ideas, and explore new perspectives while thinking in European challenges to address.
Key Dates & Application
- Application Opens: February 6th, 2026 (midday)
- Application Closes: February 22nd, 2026 (midnight)
- Selection announcement: February 27th, 2026
Applicant students should demonstrate motivation and enthusiasm through a short (max half page) motivational letter and complete the application with the transcript of records. It is expected to receive 5 students from each university, totalling 45 students across 9 partner institutions.
Hackathon Structure
- Theoretical sessions: (March)
- How is the EU structured and governed? What does the EU commission do? (2h)
- How to write policy drafts and the importance of it. (2h)
- Practical sessions: (March-April)
Learners should meet to seek a problem and ask for public opinion on it.
Afterwards, students should organize the draft and write a proposal.
One practical session with participant professors to ask questions.
- Proposal presentation: (April)
Learners should present their draft in groups in front of each other, having comments from participant professors and other students.
- Final proposal elaboration:
Learners should send their final proposal for evaluation.
