X-Lab at Luiss University
Do you want to be an engaged student and work on real-life challenges and create mission oriented solutions?
Join the XLab!
The XLab is an 8-week challenge based learning experience for bachelor’s (year 2 and 3) and master’s students from all disciplines, offered by Guido Carli Luiss University in Rome.
The aim is to develop an innovative system oriented solution in response to six thematic challenges set by leading companies as Ernst & Young, NTT Data, Technip Energies.
In the X-Lab students work in teams with mentors to create mission-oriented solutions. Interdisciplinary student teams explore future scenarios, plan transformative visions, collect data, carry out in-depth research, conduct interviews, gather feedback to co-design and refine projects, services and new business models.
At the end of the course they present their solutions to a selected panel of experts, which can find further development as pilots in companies or as a team project to create a startup finding further support for the implementation.
The X-Labs are an unique learning experience for students within the ENGAGE.EU partnership.
ENGAGE.EU students will take part online in the sessions and contribute using collaborative online tools.
The X-Lab will run from 10 March until 5 May 2022. Meetings are held every Thursday from 16.30 until 18.30.

Third year Bachelor’s students and Master’s students are eligible for this program.
X-Lab students are part of a mission-oriented, collaborative and experimentalist learning journey. We aim to provide them with knowledge, skills, and expertise to solve the challenges launched by our partners, across several industries and sectors. As a result of the course, an increase in the personal network and self-employability of students is expected.
As a new feature for this year, at the end of the course students’ project will be presented in a dedicated panel within the Best Practice Award organized by Confindustria (the general confederation of Italian industries, representing over 100.000 companies), alongside with several competitive early-stage startups.
Organization is done by the chair for Law, Digital Innovation and Sustainability. You will work with dedicated students from Luiss and public and private institutions like EY, T.EN, EnelX (Challenge Owners)
At the moment it is not possible to receive ECTS. Participating students however will receive a certificate when completing the X-Lab.
