ENGAGE.EU Early-Stage Researcher Online Workshop Hosted by NHH Bergen

Are you a PhD/doctoral candidate or a researcher navigating the first four years of your career?

 

Join us for a dynamic two-morning online workshop hosted by NHH Norwegian School of Economics as part of the ENGAGE.EU Alliance’s Research initiatives.

 

The workshop will help you recognise and communicate your strengths, explore career opportunities, and build practical skills for your next career step through interactive workshops, discussions, case studies and international breakout sessions. 

 

The workshop

Tuesday 6 October | Career Exploration and Transferable Skills 
Tuesday focuses on understanding your skills, exploring your options, and thinking strategically about your early career. 

  • Skills Mapping Workshop – Identify your transferable skills and learn how to communicate their value beyond your research. 
  • Career Journeys: From PhD to Professional Practice – Academia ↔ Industry Transitions – Hear different perspectives on career paths and transitions between academia and professional practice. 
  • Career Path Case Study Discussion – Apply your thinking to realistic career scenarios and explore different strategies for navigating your early career. 

Wednesday 7 October | Intercultural Communication and Interview Skills
Wednesday focuses on communicating your value and navigating recruitment with confidence in an international context.

  • Intercultural Communication and Interview Skills – Explore how cultural expectations shape communication, recruitment and interviews, and develop practical strategies for different contexts.

  • Country-Based Breakout Sessions – Choose the ENGAGE.EU country you are most interested in and learn about its recruitment practices, expectations and professional context.

  • Recruitment Scenarios: What Would You Do? – Work through realistic recruitment situations and consider how to respond to common challenges.
