About the Workshop
The “ENGAGE.EU Network on Renewable Energy Communities” (ENGAGE-REC) is a research initiative on Renewable Energy Communities (RECs) in Europe, bringing together researchers from the University of St.Gallen, University of Mannheim, Tilburg University, and LUISS Rome. The initiative examines how RECs and energy-sharing emerge, gain support, and contribute to the energy transition across different institutional and regulatory contexts. Its goal is to build an interdisciplinary research agenda and strengthen the collaboration on community-based energy transitions.
We invite PhD and PostDoc researchers to contribute to a public poster session on 2 March 2027 at LUISS Rome. We welcome contributions addressing energy communities—including energy sharing—from the perspective of the energy transition, business model innovation, energy and climate policy, governance, community participation, history, energy law or related fields. We encourage submissions taking an interdisciplinary perspective.
The poster session will be followed by a public expert panel discussion and an aperitivo. On 3 March, there is the opportunity to visit an REC near Rome and interact with the initiative partners. Event details will follow.
Submission details
Please submit an abstract of up to 1’000 words (excluding title, author information, biographical note, and references) by 24 November 2026. The document should include:
- Title of the contribution
- Author(s) information: name, affiliation, postal address, e-mail address
- Research question(s)
- Methods
- (Preliminary) findings
- Conclusions
- References
- A short biographical note (50-100 words per author; not included in the word count)

Submissions will be reviewed by the scientific committee based on their relevance to the initiative’s theme, originality, and academic quality.
