ENGAGE.EU delegations experienced Slush at Helsinki, Finland this November
In late November, Hanken School of Economics, one of the ENGAGE.EU partner universities, welcomed 18 representatives and 9 startups from ENGAGE.EU universities during Slush, one of the world’s biggest startup and tech events held annually in Helsinki, Finland.
During their 4-day stay, the guests got to experience the vibrant, startup-driven Slush atmosphere by attending several Slush side events organised by Hanken Business Lab (click here to read a recap), and participated in an ENGAGE.EU Meet-Up, a workshop that focused on exploring new ways to collaborate in the context of campus incubators. The startups were coached for their participation at Slush and for future international growth at the first ever ENGAGE.EU EuroPitch event. The actions follow and contribute to the objectives of WP6: ENGAGED in society, showcasing the impact of cross-border collaboration between campus incubators, business and entrepreneurship labs, and Think Tanks on the development of entrepreneurship offerings in higher education institutions.

One of the highlights of the week was the fully booked Unicorn Night event, a remarkable convergence of unicorn founders and key ecosystem builders from the Nordics and the rest of the world incl. startups, investors, and members of Hanken strategic networks. This year’s expertise-packed speaker lineup included Milena Stoycheva (Minister for Innovation and Growth, Bulgaria), Peter Vesterbacka (co-founder of Slush, Angry Birds), Sampo Hietanen (Whim), Monika Liikamaa (Enfuce), Mikkel Hippe (Tradeshift), and Ingmar Björkman (Rector of Hanken School of Economics).
Hanken Business Lab sincerely thanks all ENGAGE.EU partner universities for sending delegations and startups to Helsinki! It was a pleasure to host you and we are already looking forward to the next time.
