Science with & for Society at the Alliances of European Universities

In view of the recent or upcoming conclusion of several SwafS projects within pilot II European Universities Alliances, it is the ideal time to celebrate their achievements as well as to consider the opportunities and challenges that the Alliances will face in the R&I domain in the future.

Foundations of tomorrow’s R&I landscape

Throughout the conference, participants delved into best practices and valuable insights that will contribute laying the foundations of tomorrow’s R&I landscape. During a first dynamic walk-and-talk session, representatives from several pilot II Alliances addressed the human capital component of SwafS projects, including the gender equality dimension and the reform of research assessment. The walk-and-talk was followed up by a panel discussion with all SwafS projects representatives and other participants.

Joint R&I strategies and policies

The second session, also taking the form of a walk-and-talk, is focused on joint R&I strategies and policies, as well as on shared infrastructure. The following panel discussion was be the occasion for pilot II Alliances to reflect on lessons-learned and challenges, with a special emphasis on the ways forward for SwafS projects.

The event facilitated exchanges between Alliances and external stakeholders, including distinguished academics and European policy deciders, exploring diverse models and pathways to excellence within the European R&I ecosystem.

The event was organised by pilot II European University Alliances Aurora, Circle U., EC2U, EUniWell, EUt+, RUN-EU, and UNIVERSEH, with support from CHARM-EU and hosted by the Mission of Norway to the EU.
