About ENGAGE.EU Study Tours

They are a new short-term, physical mobility format to be piloted in ENGAGE 2.0.

A Study Tour is a 3–5-day visit by students of preferably 3 ENGAGE.EU partner universities to the campus of one other ENGAGE.EU partner university. The study tours are jointly organised with students from the host university and include an academic component (minimum a 1-hour session) and may also include a professional one.

The format aims to create new mobility opportunities in addition to the traditional semester exchange and summer/winter schools. The Study Tours are designed to make international mobility more accessible to learners from underrepresented groups.

ENGAGE.EU Study Tours are organised on top of the regular curriculum of the student.

Participating students in the NHH Study Tour will:

  • come in contact with new-to-them learning concepts,
  • gain knowledge about the education system of the host country and academic profile of the host university,
  • learn about the local institutional and economic environment,
  • build a lasting network with their peers in the group and at the host university,
  • significantly benefit underrepresented students and will also facilitate engaging them in a future international credit or degree mobility.

Academic programme

The ENGAGE.EU Study Tour on “Sustainability in Practice” is set to be an enriching and immersive experience. Participants will engage in a variety of activities designed to deepen their understanding of sustainability and its practical applications.

The Study Tour will have insightful academic sessions led by esteemed professors from NHH, covering topics such as sustainability in communication and the impact of sustainability. Participants will also have the opportunity to reflect on their personal values and how these influence their career choices during a dedicated workshop.

A highlight of the tour will be a field trip to the picturesque Hardanger Fjord, where participants will visit a salmon farm and learn about eco-friendly food production practices. This hands-on experience will provide valuable insights into the technological solutions and measures that ensure a healthy and efficient food production system.

The final day will feature more academic sessions, including discussions on social sustainability and the influence of ESG preferences on supply chain decisions. The tour will conclude with a reflection workshop, where participants can contemplate how to apply their newfound knowledge and experiences in their future endeavors.

The NHH ENGAGE.EU Study Tour will have:

  • 4 academic sessions by expert lecturers
  • 1 field trip to a salmon farm
  • 2 Career workshops
  • Time for socializing and networking
  • An ENGAGE.EU session with local students and BoL representatives
  • Sessions will take place from Monday to Wednesday.
  • Attendance and active participation in both academic and professional sessions are pre-requisites for the successful completion of the Study Tour.
