Exploring Sustainable Futures: ENGAGE.EU Study Tour on CSR Brings Together 30 Students in Toulouse
From interactive campus activities to exclusive industry visits, the ENGAGE.EU Study Tour held in Toulouse in June 2025 offered 30 students from partner universities a dynamic and immersive exploration of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) and sustainability. This three-day programme, co-designed with students from Toulouse Capitole University, was part of ENGAGE.EU’s ongoing commitment to fostering international learning opportunities rooted in societal relevance and professional development.
What is the ENGAGE.EU Study Tour?
The Study Tour is a unique short-term mobility format developed by the ENGAGE.EU alliance of leading European universities. Unlike traditional semester exchanges or seasonal schools, Study Tours are designed to lower barriers to international experiences, particularly for students from under-represented backgrounds. Each edition includes an academic component and may also feature professional and cultural activities, creating a holistic, interdisciplinary learning journey.
A Closer Look at the Toulouse Edition: CSR for Meaningful Careers
The Toulouse Study Tour focused on CSR and sustainability, topics that are increasingly shaping the future of work and society. Activities kicked off on Wednesday with a campus-wide orienteering challenge that guided students through the university’s sustainable infrastructure, setting the tone for a week centered on responsible innovation and environmental awareness.
Thursday offered a deeper academic dive with a sociological lecture on CSR, followed by a panel session featuring alumni from University Toulouse Capitole who are actively working in CSR-related roles. The afternoon included a site visit to the new Toulouse metro line construction project, which has been awarded High Environmental Quality (HQE) certification for its sustainable practices.
On Friday, students examined the legal frameworks underpinning CSR in a second academic session, before exploring real-world applications at Airbus. There, they learned about the company’s sustainability strategy and visited the A350 assembly line—home to one of the industry’s most environmentally advanced aircraft.
Beyond the Classroom: Building Networks and Global Perspectives
Throughout the programme, students engaged in vibrant cross-cultural dialogue and interdisciplinary teamwork. The tour not only provided fresh academic insights but also sparked reflection on how CSR can shape fulfilling, impactful careers. More than just a learning experience, the Study Tour served as a platform for networking, peer exchange, and collaborative problem-solving.
As participants return to their respective universities, they carry with them new knowledge, lasting connections, and a renewed commitment to contributing to a more sustainable and responsible future.
