From March 17-19, two important meetings of the Area Boards and the Management Team took place at the University of Mannheim, bringing together more than 25 Vice Chancellors, Deans, Heads of Departments, and other key representatives from partner universities. The focus was on the strategic direction of the alliance.
The discussions were facilitated by a team from Tilburg University. The participants were presented with various scenarios such as thematic and academic priorities and the role of societal engagement in teaching and research. The aim of the strategy development is to further consolidate the ENGAGE.EU alliance within the institutions and to strengthen relations between the partner universities in the long term.
Prior to the meeting, each university conducted local events where various stakeholders worked together in workshops on the strategic direction of the alliance. The results of these findings were incorporated into the Mannheim meeting and laid a solid foundation for future initiatives. Over the coming months, the development of the ENGAGE.EU Strategy 2035 will be further refined, with the official launch planned for the ENGAGE.EU Annual Conference at UT Capitol at the end of October.
Following the two-day meeting of the Area Boards, the ENGAGE.EU management team met to discuss further operational aspects of the alliance such as data collection, reporting and budget management.
The meetings in Mannheim laid an important foundation for the long-term engagement between the partner institutions. Through productive exchange, connected by a shared vision, the course is set for the future of the alliance and ensures its lasting impact on European higher education.
